TWEEDLOVE organisers unveiled their programme for the week-long Tweed Valley biking festival on Tuesday, writes Sally Gillespie.
New to the June event this year will be a seven-hour open endurance mountain biking event, a closed-circuit road race in Peebles town centre, a closing concert featuring Scottish indie band Frightened Rabbit, a cross country series, a cyclecross race and the unofficial Scottish Pump Track Championships.
Organiser Neil Dalgleish said: “We’re really grateful for all the help, support and goodwill that’s going into TweedLove. Loads of folk and different organisations are working together to show why the Tweed Valley is such a cool and unique place for riding bikes.”
Now in its second year the eight-day festival has received funding from EventScotland and Scottish Borders Council, and it has added to last year’s inaugural free and paid-for events. The festival, held in association with Endura this year, will again include on and off-road guided rides, a film night, open races, a dual slalom and informal rideouts when local cyclists take visitors on some of their favourite trails.
