Turning junk into funk

Percussion superstars Owen and Olly will be drumming up a storm in Galashiels’ Volunteer Hall on March 22 with Junk Trunk – yet another showstopper from family favourites Children’s Classic Concerts.

Join in the fun as they turn household junk into funk!

From dustbin drumkits to hosepipe horns and classical favourites to jazzy jam sessions, this action-packed family concert is not to be missed.

With all of the usual joining in, musical mayhem and top tunes, Junk Trunk is definitely not just a load of old rubbish!

Before the concert there is a family-friendly session, giving you the opportunity to explore some surreal sights and sounds.

Work with CCC musicians to find out how musical sounds can be made out of some pretty mad materials. Then you’re set to create your own Garbage Band. A team will be on hand to help you make your very own recycled instrument.

Workshop places are limited so be sure to book early!

Can’t make it to the workshop? You can download instructions from CCC’s website, www.childrensclassicconcerts.co.uk for inspiration so you can create your own recycled instrument.

For 20 years Children’s Classic Concerts have been delighting children, their families and teachers with their fun-filled introduction to live orchestral music: not just classical music, but jazz, traditional Celtic and world music in a lively mix of entertainment and education that regularly sells out at halls throughout Scotland.

The workshop starts at 1pm, and the concert follows at 3pm.

Tickets are £5 for the concert, while a ticket for
both workshop and concert is £7.
