Tributes paid to a ‘nice, quiet girl’ in tragic Selkirk death

Police have identified the woman who died after being found with severe burns on Hillside Terrace last week as Ade Murray.

Ade, 28, who lived at 24 Hillside Terrace with her husband Keith, was treated by paramedics on the pavement by Tait’s Hill at 7.30am last Wednesday, before being taken by ambulance to the BGH, where she died of her injuries later in the day.

Police Scotland were treating her death as unexplained, but confirmed: “there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Mrs Murray’s family issued a tribute: “We would like to thank everybody for their support at what is a very difficult time.

“We’d especially like to thank the members of the public, emergency services and hospital staff for their attempts to save Ade.

“Ade will be dearly missed by her husband and family, and we respectfully request that we be left to grieve in private.”

Neighbours also paid tribute to “a nice, quiet girl, a bonnie girl.”

A second neighbour added: “I’m shaken up. She was a nice lassie.”

Her funeral was held at Wairds Cemetary in Melrose on Tuesday.
