Tree of knowledge at Earlston
Robert Miller, part of an intrepid team of year six '˜literary champions' at Earlston High School, enjoys a famous classic in the school's new reading retreat.
The facility is designed to allow pupils to read for pleasure – not just because the curriculum tells them to – and includes an SBC-funded drinks machine for warming cups of hot chocolate, comfy sofas and an eye-catching tree-shaped bookshelf – designed by the school’s caretakers and built by pupils. See P15 for another look at the innovative area.
