Motorists have been facing hold-ups due to the Edinburgh-Carlisle road being reduced to a single lane near Selkirk Golf Club since Monday, January 20, and that is to continue for a further three weeks.

That’s because the present works by Scottish Water are to be followed by further ones by infrastructure company Amey.

It’s creating a £290,000 shared cycleway alongside the road, beginning this Friday, March 6, and continuing until Tuesday, March 31.

That work will require continuous single-lane closures with temporary traffic lights.

Temporary pedestrian walkways will be provided within the closed-off sections.

Unlike the Scottish Water works preceding it, to allow the installation of new pipes, the cycleway’s construction won’t require any full closures of the A7.
