Bethany Smail, age 11, a dancer with the Lynella School of Highland Dancing in Kelso, won her pre-championship at the IFDAS Championships in Musselburgh last Thursday.

Bethany, taught by Susan Grainger and Sharon Sim, who run the dance school, is grateful to the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust and Club Sport Roxburgh for providing financial assistance to help her travel all over Scotland and the north of England to compete.

Her next goal is the Scottish and World Highland Dancing Championships at Cowal, Dunoon, at the end of this month.
