Takeover agreed for Selkirk-based plant business
Selkirk-based Astra Site Services, the UK’s largest supplier of hydraulic excavator attachments to the demolition, construction and rail industries, has been sold to A-Plant.
The firm, established in 1998 by Jedburgh’s Mark Graham, employs around 70 staff nationwide including 10 at its Tweed Mill Business Park-based marketing team.
It was sold to the national firm last month.

Hide AdMr Graham, 54, said: “I have stepped down from my position and wish them all the best with the company.
“We are flattered that they came and inquired about us and pursued us.
“I would like to say thank you to all my customers over years.
“I am now looking a new venture.
“It will be a national project but definitely with a base in the Borders.”

Hide AdA Plant has confirmed there will be no job losses as a result of the sale and that it intends to continue operations from its Selkirk base.
An A Plant spokesman added: “It’s a positive acquisition, and we have no plans to change anything.
“The idea is that we expand the company and it grows.”
The company employs more than 70 staff nationwide and has depots situated throughout the country including Bathgate, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
