Elaine Lumsden of Earlston has won double gold for her secret recipe for homemade raspberry jam at the world Jampionships 2013, judged at Balathie House Hotel in Perthshire.
From a record 300-plus entrants worldwide, Elaine headed the heritage and international categories.
Without Elaine knowing, husband Brian entered her jam – he picked the raspberries from Border Berries, Rutherford Farm, near Kelso. He commented: “Border raspberries are the best in the country, which is a great starting point in determining the quality of the final product.
“This, allied to the jam being made within an hour of the rasps being picked, and lovingly made to Elaine’s secret 100 per cent organic recipe, has resulted in this year’s fantastic success.”
