In December 2015, Candy Rafferty of the Cash for Kids team approached Borders College with a potential project for their painting and decorating students – they needed a large advertising trailer to be painted up as a blank canvas ready for use.

Would they be up for the challenge?

Painting and decorating lecturers Barbara Hastie and Mark Easson set their City & Guilds painting and decorating, and second year painting and decorating students, to the task, which took just over three weeks to complete.

The students took it in turns to paint the advertising trailer, in between completing their own coursework.

They were joined by the Borders College Motor Vehicle department, who allowed them space in their workshop, and Colin Robertson from the Dulux Decorator Centre on the Netherdale Industrial Estate in Galashiels, who generously supplied all the paint.
