A step back in time

Visitors to Selkirk's Haining will have the chance to enjoy stories from a century of the park's history brought to life at a special event this month.

Haining Living History focuses on the period between 1830 and 1930. The house itself will be dressed with period furniture, and will also feature an interactive Victorian laundry and classroom. Historical characters including a Russian Princess and a Victorian bride will in residence, and other attractions include a bear hunt, penny farthings and vintage vehicles, a miraculous performing goat, birds of prey and a petting farmyard, recalling the menageie kept on the estate in the early nineteenth century.

The event takes place between 10am and 4.30pm, Saturday and Sunday May 28 and 29.

Tickets are £6, concessions £4, children £3, under-fives free.
