Snow warning for Borders

The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning of snow across the Borders from 7pm tonight (Wednesday January 13) until 9am tomorrow (Thursday January 14).

Outbreaks of rain and sleet, with snow over high ground, will spread from the west later on Wednesday afternoon, turning increasingly to snow on lower ground through the evening and on Wednesday night.

A depth of 3-6cm is expected quite widely across the area with possibly more than 10cm locally, mainly above elevations of 300metres.

Motorists are being advised to be prepared for some difficult driving conditions and the risk of disruption to travel, and take appropriate precautions before undertaking journeys.
