Small is beautiful

I’m just back from holiday in a small independent European country.

Now, I just need to remind myself why some people say we would be “better together”.

Oh, yes. It means we could continue to be dragged into dubious foreign military adventures. And we will have to continue to pay for unwanted and useless nuclear weapons based in Scotland when the money could be spent on more worthwhile projects.

And we will continue to be subjected to economic policies that are designed to benefit the so-called “financial industry”, rather than ordinary people and productive businesses. And our elected representatives (of whatever party) will continue to be a small minority within a parliament more than 300 miles away.

And we will have missed our one big chance to take responsibility for ourselves, and to start making things different and better.
