Selkirk teen catches Bridgehaugh Dyeworks blaze on video

THE sheer ferocity of the blaze that ripped through Selkirk’s Bridgehaugh Dyeworks early on Thursday morning can be seen clearly in this video.

Teenager Stuart Young saw the smoke and heard the sirens from his Bannerfield Drive home – and persuaded mum Karen to go with him to take a look.

And on reaching the building, Stuart grabbed this footage on his ipod.

It clearly shows the fire threatening to engulf a fireman as he attempts to tame the flames.

Thankfully, no-one was hurt in the incident, but the dyeworks, which employed 24 people, was gutted.
