A man accused of passing counterfeit bank notes at a bookmaker’s shop has been cleared at Selkirk’s sheriff court.

Gary Turnbull, 35, of Bannerfield Drive, Selkirk, had denied passing as genuine two forged Bank of Scotland £20 notes at William Hill in Market Street, Galashiels, on August 21, and his not-guilty plea to that charge was accepted by the crown.
