Selkirk library will close on Monday, February 9 until March 30 to allow for reorganisation and refurbishment.
Work is expected to take approximately seven weeks and alternative arrangements will be put in place for service users.
A replacement mobile library service will operate from Monday, February 16 to Saturday, March 21 at the Victoria Hall, Selkirk, at the following times:
● Monday: 10am-1pm; 2-5pm
● Tuesday: 2-5pm
● Wednesday: 10am-1pm
● Thursday: 2-5pm
● Friday: noon-4pm
● Saturday: 9.30am-12.30pm
The nearest libraries offering the full range of services will be Galashiels and Melrose.
Library users and members of the public will also be able to use the computer suite at Philiphaugh Community School on Linglie Road during the closure. This will be available from February 16 to March 17 at the following times when a member of library staff will be available to offer assistance:
● Monday: 11am-1pm
● Tuesday: 2-4pm
● Friday: 2-4pm
A council spokesperson said: “SBC would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by the temporary closure and to thank local residents for their patience as these important works are carried out. Once these are completed, Selkirk library users will be able to enjoy full use of all available services in a newly refurbished and reorganised library.”
