SELKIRK-based artist Moy Mackay has stitched together a new book and exhibition in the Border Textile Towerhouse next Wednesday.
Edinburgh-born Moy will launch Art in Felt and Stitch at the Hawick venue, which shows the reader how to make attractive pictures using felt.
Moy uses colour to create still life, animal and landscape pieces, and shows all the stages of the process, including the materials and tools needed. Moy is a graduate from the Glasgow School of Art and has worked in galleries across the UK and USA. She has recently opened her own gallery in Peebles.
The exhibition in the Hawick venue will include many pieces of Moy’s work and will run until Wednesday, April 25.
Towerhouse curator Shona Sinclair said: “I am delighted that Moy has chosen to launch her new book at the Textile Towerhouse.
“Her felt paintings are beautiful and the opportunity to meet the artist/author and find out how she does it will be fantastic.
“This is the very first book launch that we have supported and everyone is welcome on the evening.
“As a centre for the promotion and support of Borders textiles we will continue to stock signed copies of the book after the exhibition is finished.”
Moy Mackay will be at the Textile Towerhouse from 7pm and will be signing copies of her book and explaining her techniques.
