She lost to the incumbent SNP candidate Angela Crawley, in one of the only three-way marginals in the country.

Although Ms Haslam returned the same 32.1% vote share the Conservatives gathered in 2017, the SNP appear to have attracted a good deal of Labour’s former voters, and returned Ms Crawley with 41.9% of the vote, a swing of +9.3% from 2017.

Labour again fell to third place, but with 20.2% of the vote, a swing of -11.7%.
