Police plea for information on Innerleithen thefts

Police enquiries are ongoing following a series of thefts in Innerleithen last week.

Officers were called to an address on Traquair Road where a thief or thieves entered two cars, which were parked in a driveway, between midnight and 3am on Wednesday, August 26.

A number of high value items were stolen, including a three-figure sum of money and a laptop.

Elsewhere, a garage was broken into at a separate address, also on Traquair Road sometime between 9pm on Tuesday, and 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Two mountain bikes, a black coloured Santa Cruz Heckler and a Giant Reign, were stolen as well as a stihl saw.

Meanwhile, a single decker bus parked in an industrial estate on Traquair Road was entered and a small number of items removed sometime between 5.30pm on Tuesday, and 8am on Wednesday.

Police says they are keen to trace four males who were seen in the area around the time of these incidents.

Inspector Bryan Burns said: “A thorough investigation is now under way into these thefts and I would appeal to anyone who has any information that might assist with our ongoing enquiries or has been offered items that match the description of the stolen property, to please come forward.
