In pictures: A look back at Melrose’s Hogmanay celebrations over the years

With 2020 now well under way, we thought it a good time to delve into our photo archives and take a look back at what used to be one of the biggest public Hogmanay get-togethers in the Borders.

The annual Melrose Hogmanay fireworks display started as a one-off event to celebrate the millenium in 2000 but proved such a hit that the fireworks, music from Melrose Pipe Band and traditional dancing in the street returned year-upon-year until the event proved too much for organisers Melrose Community Council in 2017, forcing its cancellation. We’ve delved into our photo archives to share some of the happy memories with you, thought, thanks to these photos which cover the first moments of 2008, 2011 and 2017.
