Staff and volunteers at the PDSA shop in Galashiels are urging animal lovers to donate any unwanted items as part of a new campaign to help local pets.

The vet charity shop is launching an appeal for desperately needed items including CDs, DVDs, books and homewares as well as men’s and ladies clothes, shoes and accessories.

Donations can be taken to the shop from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm.

PDSA shop manager, Linzi Liddle, said: “We’re launching a new campaign to encourage local people to donate their unwanted items, which will help make a huge difference for poorly pets.

“If you have good quality items that you no longer use please consider donating them to PDSA. As well as de-cluttering your home, you’ll be helping raise money to treat sick and injured pets in need.

“We’re appealing for all types of items, especially good quality men’s, ladies’ and children’s clothing which are popular with our customers. We also need home furnishings such as vases, pictures and ornaments as well as toys, games, books, DVDs and CDs.”

To donate items to the shop, either drop them off at 64 Channel Street, Galashiels or call Linzi on 01896 759881 to arrange a collection.

PDSA encourages all supporters to sign up for Gift Aid, to help their donations go even further. Gift Aid allows PDSA to claim an additional 25 per cent of the value of each item sold, which helps raise over £1m a year for the charity.
