Three masterclasses for Peebles dancers
Pupils at the Fiona Henderson School of Dance in Peebles were treated to some festive-inspired ‘Snow Queen’ ballet classes last week.
Miriam Douglas-Early of Scottish Ballet led three masterclasses for the school’s junior, senior and adult pupils with wonderful live accompaniament from David Farrell at the studio piano.
Fiona Henderson said: “It was a fantastic day – we are delighted that Scottish Ballet have returned to FHSD Peebles again after our successful masterclasses in 2018.
“This year’s theme of the ‘Snow Queen’ seemed so appropriate for this time of year and our pupils loved the Scottish Ballet masterclass experience.”
Scottish Ballet’s brand new production – the world premiere of The Snow Queen – is showing at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre.
This glittering new production is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s much-loved tale – which was also the basis for Frozen.
It is set to the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, and performed live by the full Scottish Ballet Orchestra.
From the bustle of a winter’s market to the shivers of a fairytale forest, audiences will take a journey to the Snow Queen’s palace, where they’ll find her surrounded by the icy fragments of an enchanted mirror.
Along the way they’ll meet a colourful cast of characters, from young lovers parted by a spell to a circus ringmaster with a few tricks up his sleeve.
Choreographed by Christopher Hampson and designed by the award-winning Lez Brotherston, this story of love and friendship is sure to delight the whole family.
