He signed up to the “Rock the Lock Down” Facebook page, where singers entertain those stuck in the house with some home-recorded tunes, and his first attempt has gained him thousands of new fans.

Charlie, who’s 25 from Hawick, said: “A few of my pals told me about this Facebook page called Rock The Lock Down, so l decided to post one up to cheer folk up through these difficult times.

“I was hoping it would work well.”

And work well it certainly did. To date, the video has amassed more than 9,400 likes and 2,000 comments in just the two days it’s been online ... all praising the talented Teri’s voice. See the video here.

The song he chose was “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific ... and if HAOS ever thought about putting that one on, Charlie could well be in line for the lead role.

Charlie, who played General Tom Thumb in this year’s production of Barnum the Musical – see our review of the show here – said he was blown away by the response to his video, and there could be more to come.

He said: “The feedback has been unreal.

“I didn’t really expect that many folk to like it and they’re sharing it like crazy.

“I’ve got a couple songs in mind for the future, including my song ‘Bigger isn’t Better’ from Barnum.”
