This is no ordinary challenge as army Major Chris Brannigan, from West Byfleet in Sussex, is attempting the 700-mile journey barefoot, inspired by his daughter Hasti, who suffers from Cornelia de Lange syndrome, a genetic disorder.

His route takes him from Otterburn to Jedburgh on on Monday, and on to Lauder on Tuesday, before hopefully reaching journey’s end in the capital the following day.

However, those dates are dependent on Chris staying free from injury, but his progress can be tracked using #hopeforhasti on Facebook.
