Police in the Borders are appealing for witnesses after lead pellets were fired at a bus yesterday - Sunday January 24.

The Perryman’s bus was leaving Greenlaw around 5.30 pm, heading towards Duns on the A6105 when the driver heard a bang.

On inspection he found two small holes in the glass of the passenger door and one of the side windows, which was severely damaged.

Inspector Kevin Harris of Melrose police station said: “Thankfully no-one was injured in this incident although there were several passengers on the bus.

“Obviously it could have been a lot worse and we are keen to trace the individual responsible.

“While we are carrying out a number of inquiries in the area, we would also be keen to hear from anyone with information that can assist us in finding whoever was responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
