The 30-strong party were taken on a guided tour of the famous house, learning about the property’s art collection and the Buccleuch family history.

Dorothy Heard, committee member of Oxnam Water Ladies, said: “Our ladies loved the opportunity to explore Bowhill House. It was fascinating to hear lots about its rich history from the knowledgeable team.”

OWLs meet every first Tuesday of the month at Oxnam Village Hall where members are often treated to a variety of speakers and home baking.
