Nostalgia: Philiphaugh Primary says goodbye and thankyou to Muriel Mitchell
There were fond farewells at Philiphaugh School in June 1986, when the pupils said goodbye to assistant head Muriel Mitchell.
Muriel had worked at the school since 1949, only taking a break to bring up her family. She was presented with a Lindean Glass bowl and wine glasses, a Selkirk Glass paperweight and pottery on her retiral. Primaries one and two also baked a special cake to mark the occasion.
