NOSTALGIA: New Ealrston High School opens
'In years to come, history will look kindly on us for having such courage and vision on behalf of our children.'
The words of Scottish Borders Council leader David Parker after he cut the first sod at the site of an 800-pupil replacement high school in Earltson back in 2007.
The £70m deal was to provide new secondary schools at Earlston, Duns and Eyemouth.
The symbolic sod-cutting signalled the construction work on the Gorgefields Farm site and all schools were expected to be completed by 2009.
