The A68 was closed for almost three hours north of Carter Bar after a motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a deer.

The 36-year-old was taken to the Borders General Hospital at Melrose for treatment for injuries described by police as serious but not life-threatening.

The Edinburgh-Darlington road was closed between Carter Bar and Jedburgh in both directions for almost three hours after the accident occurred just before 4pm yesterday, April 15, to allow emergency services crews to tend to the injured man and carry out an investigation into the crash.

It reopened at 6.45pm.
