Memorial run would make Hizzy proud

I am taking this opportunity to thank everyone involved with this year’s 10th annual Steve (Hizzy) Hislop Memorial Run.

The event involves many months of planning, organising and time, all by volunteers who are enthusiastic and positive about keeping the event fresh and interesting. The fantastic weather this year also made it a pleasure to be involved.

This year’s chosen charity was the Isle of Man hyperbaric unit and the amount raised was a fantastic £646. Stuart Easton has used this unit recently to help speed up his recovery.

Special thanks must go to Ses Whillans for bringing his Bucking Bronco, Keith Irving for the mountain bike track, Rayco for supplying the sound, Margaret Hislop and the ladies in The Green for the raffle, George Hardy and the parking marshals, the Fox and Hounds for providing refreshments, and last, but not least, the travelling marshals who not only did a great job, but did it wearing pink T-shirts.

A final thanks to everyone who turned out to see the bikes travel around the countryside and supported this year’s charity. See you next year. Steve Hislop would be proud.
