YOUNG people are being invited to take part in a series of media groups which will give them the chance to become involved in designing and developing print, online and broadcast media.
They will also help shape future media opportunities for young people locally.
The focus group sessions are being co-ordinated by the council’s new youth media development worker, Lisa Cowan.
She said: “The focus of my role is to develop and deliver media opportunities to young people across the region. This includes providing support to young people, as well as their youth workers and teachers.”
She added: “The media focus groups will allow me to establish exactly what type of opportunities young people would like to engage in.”
Lisa is looking for a diverse mix of people of high school age and above with a variety of interests, but who all have a genuine interest in pursuing media activities.
Councillor Vicky Davidson, executive member for youth and culture, added: “Lisa’s experience of media, marketing and production provides a tremendous opportunity for young people to uncover new talents, develop new skills and present a more confident and proactive voice within their communities.”
