Man's body recovered from sea

Dunbar Lifeboat was called out on the evening of Saturday, February 6, to help with the recovery of a body from the sea.

Aberdeen Coastguard paged for Dunbar’s inshore lifeboat to launch at 8.05pm, to assist Police Scotland to recover a body from the bottom of the cliffs west of Dunbar.

The body was recovered by the crew of Dunbar RNLI inshore lifeboat the ‘Jimmy Miff’. A spokesman for the station said that the crew had been deeply saddened by the task and their thoughts were with the family and friends at this sad time.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to a stretch of coastline at the northern edge of Dunbar on Saturday night (February 6) following a report of concern for a male.

“Unfortunately, after carrying out a search of the area, local police discovered a man’s body.

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing however there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances at this time.

“As in all cases of sudden death a report will be sent to Procurator Fiscal.”
