A man has made a private court appearance accused of carrying out a robbery at a Kelso supermarket.

Wayne Wilkes, of Roxburgh Street, Kelso, is charged with forcing two female employees to open a till and robbing them of £187 while wearing a mask over his face at the Co-operative store in High Croft on November 12.

The 37-year-old made no plea at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, and he was fully committed for trial.

There was no application for bail, and Wilkes was remanded in custody.
