YOUNGSTERS from the Learn to Swim scheme at Kelso Swimming Pool were called up for official duty when they were asked to present Borders Sport and Leisure Trust’s Swimming Coordinators with their newly awarded ‘swiMark’ accreditation – the industry benchmark for swim club and learn to swim schemes issued by Scottish Swimming.
To achieve swiMark, the trust had to meet criteria relating to teaching and training, administration and management, equity in sport and effective partnerships, and is described as further evidence of the high quality of the Swim Borders scheme, that sees more than 3,100 Borders children learning to swim every week.
Chief Executive of Borders Sport and Leisure Trust, Ewan Jackson, commented: “We are delighted to achieve swiMark. Swim Borders has gone from strength to strength and it is great to have the efforts recognised by Scottish Swimming.
“Parents can join the scheme with confidence knowing it provides the best in swimming tuition for the children of the Borders. Well done to the team.”
Ashley Howard, Chief Executive of Scottish Swimming, added: “Congratulations Borders Sport and Leisure Trust on achieving swiMark, demonstrating they are leading the way in setting new standards for swimming lessons in the Borders.”
