At a retirement event that recently took place in the Victoria Hall, Selkirk, NHS Borders celebrated over 400 years of service. Many retired employees caught up with one another over afternoon tea and a scone.

They also got the chance to look through old photo albums which were provided from The Exhibition of Peel Hospital, and while reminiscing on their times in the NHS, music was played throughout the event from the Back Row Band.

Chairman of NHS Borders, John Raine thanked all those retirees on behalf of the board.

He commended them on their hard work, effort and years of service.

He said: “Those attending represent 424 years of service to the Borders community.

“It is important for the Health Board to recognise the dedication of those who have recently retired, many with long career service, and to say a big thank you for the contribution they have made.”
