Les Miserables needs lads

male performers are wanted for a youth production of Les Miserables in the Borders.

Music Theatre Scotland have so far enrolled 40 youngsters for their auditions this month, but only four are boys.

Music Theatre Scotland’s artistic director, Gary Adams, said: “There are five principal roles for male performers and we want to double up on each, so we could do with at least another 10 guys to complete our recruitment.

“Even if the lads don’t feel confident about a leading role, there is a great ensemble with some amazing scenes and songs.

“Auditions take place from 1 to 4pm on the next two Sundays at The Corn Exchange in Melrose and even if young men aged between 14 and 19 have not applied yet, they should come along.”

Gary added: “The idea is to include everyone who has the necessary motivation and commitment so no-one will be rejected who really wants to participate.

“Particularly welcome will be young musicians to join the orchestra and those interested in joining the backstage and production teams.”
