Jedburgh steps in to help Leighanne

Family, friends and big-hearted Jetharts donned ‘Cancer is Pants’ underwear and walking shoes at the weekend to help raise cash to help a young cancer sufferer fulfill her ‘bucket list’ before she dies.

Last week we told how 26-year-old Leighanne Easton, from Jedburgh, learned her brain tumour was terminal and she now has just weeks to live, despite chemo and radiotherapy.

And on Saturday the walkers raised more than £400 on the day alone towards Leighanne’s bucket list (a to-do list before kicking the bucket), with pairs of pants, priced £2.50 each, continuing to sell toward this good cause.

Leighanne’s friend Stacey Wylie and her mum Trish are already talking about it being an annual event. Leighanne’s former primary school, Howdenburn, is also fundraising with a ‘wear purple day’ in November.
