Ivor story of songwriter

THE life of Ivor Novello will be recounted this Sunday at Melrose Music Society in Glaswegian actor James Cairney’s show.

The songwriter (pictured top of page) who was made famous by his patriotic World War I song Keep the Home Fires Burning. He was also a composer, a film star who appeared in two Alfred Hitchcock films, and a Hollywood scriptwriter, coming up with immortal line “Me Tarzan, you Jane”.

Oliver Eade of the Melrose Music Society said: “Cairney’s wonderful script, will be brought to life by Scottish performers Daisy Henderson (soprano), Taylor Wilson (mezzo-soprano), James Dinsmore (actor and baritone) and pianist Bill Kean.

Tickets cost £12 for non-members, children free. The concert in Melrose Parish Church hall begins at 2.30pm.
