The famous Bear Gates that guard the entrance to Traquair House have been closed since 1745, waiting for a Stuart King to return.
They won’t even open for the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, but Elvis tribute act Danny Allan thought he would give it a go as he helped make final preparations for this weekend’s 33rd Traquair Fair.
This year, for the first time, there will be an Americana theme, including Danny as Elvis, as well as Wild West shows, classic American cars, film, and a great line-up of music throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Lady Laird of Traquair Catherine Maxwell Stuart, who organises the event, said: “We may not be opening the Bear Gates just yet for this ‘king’, but we can promise a sensational weekend of entertainment for all ages.
“There has been a great response to the event and the Americana theme has touched a chord with many – who can resist cowboys, country, Cajun food and cheerleaders?”
