Innerleithen Music Festival went with a swing

We’ve done it again – a successful ninth music festival under our belt.

These things don’t just happen – it takes a lot of help and dedication from a hard-working committee and a large band of helpers, not to mention money from sponsors and donations of raffle prizes. Our sponsors this year were the Co-op Membership Community Fund, Scotlight, the Rotary Club of Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair, St Ronan’s Tattoo committee, Caldwell’s Ice Cream and Backcroft B&B.

Of course, it’s not just about making or listening to music. It’s about wandering around the town, in and out of pubs, beer gardens and cafes, and meeting old friends and new.

The atmosphere in the town was great – and it didn’t rain. Nor was it only music that was catered for, with a historical town walk, community market and book launch to chose from. St Ronan’s Silver Band had a 12-hour sponsored Bandathon and there were buskers in various locations.

Our raffle income rose steeply this year, thanks to the generosity of concert and festival club attendees enticed by the wonderful prizes donated by numerous local businesses.

These were: Alpine Bikes, Caddon View Guest House, Caldwell’s Ice Cream, Chapel Street Gallery, Corner House Hotel, Greentrax Recordings, Innerleithen Co-op, Innerleithen Golf Club, Joanna Thomson Jewellery, John Adam Bakers, Last Century Book Shop, Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Occasions Gift Shop, One Stop Laundry, Robert Smails Printing Works, Sainsbury’s, Scotlight, Scott Motors, Shaws Fine Meats, St Ronan’s Hotel, Tesco, Traquair Arms Hotel, Traquair House, Tweedside Hotel, Union Club, Vale Club, Volcano Takeaway, WGS Car Sales & Servicing and the Whistle Stop Cafe.
