Hotline call could cut home fuel bills

People in the the Borders are being urged to make use of the Scotland-wide Home Energy Hotline provided by Holyrood.

The Scottish Government says contacting the hotline can help cut fuel bills but still make homes warmed.

They say that since 2009, around one third of Scottish households have been offered energy-saving advice. Some have qualified for free or discounted loft insulation, boiler replacement and central heating.

Launching this winter’s campaign, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon commented: “Rising energy bills remain a huge concern for the Scottish Government and fuel poverty is still a major issue in Scotland with over 27 per cent of households affected.

“It takes just one phone call to see if you can save money on winter fuel bills.”
