High school pupils hit the right note

Eleven pupils competed for a place in the next round to be held at Selkirk High in February. Judges John Mabon and Kate Fish gave constructive feedback to all the entrants, who ranged in age from 12 to 17.
Four prizes were awarded. Chay Swan won Senior Instrumentalist, with Clement Femenais as runner-up, and Baillie Steele was awarded Senior Vocalist. Twins Eleanor Rea and Alice Rea lifted Junior Instrumentalist and runner-up respectively.
Chay and Baillie now go forward to compete for the title of Borders Area Rotary Young Musician.
