THE director of nursing and midwifery in Borders is leaving to head-up the Scotland-wide service, writes Bob Burgess.

Sheena Wright, pictured, is quitting her post with NHS Borders to become director of nursing and care with NHS 24.

She commented: “I am delighted to be given this exciting opportunity and I am very much looking forward to working for NHS 24 and contributing to the delivery of quality health care.”

Her previous posts have been in Glasgow, the Western Isles and with the Scottish Government.

The Borders director takes over from Eunice Muir who is retiring after 10 years with NHS 24.

The chief executive of NHS Borders Calum Campbell said: “We wish Sheena all the best in this new role and I would like to thank her for the work she has done and the commitment she has shown to NHS Borders.”

The vacant position in the Borders is now being advertised.
