HAWICK is gearing up for a weekend celebrating the Reivers.
A concert by the renowned Scocha starts Hawick Reivers Festival tomorrow night.
Saturday brings the Reivers procession, a 16th century market, re-enactment groups, craftspeople, musicians, traders, school dramas, ballads and stories, historical lectures – and a Reivers’ encampment in Wilton Lodge Park on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a torchlight procession followed by a fireworks display on Saturday night before festival headliners Blazin’ Fiddles play Hawick Town Hall.
Festival chairperson Cath Elliott-Walker said of Blazin’ Fiddles: “We are delighted to welcome such an internationally known band to our festival and we know fans will turn out to give them a real Borders welcome”
On Sunday there will be a guided walk starting at 10am, childrens’ sports and a literary tea.
