The committee will gather in Hawick on Tuesday, April 17, at its lesser town hall in Cross Wynd, rather than its usual venue, the council’s Newtown headquarters, as the bulk of the agenda for the 11am meeting deals with plans for the town and another meeting to discuss its future is being held there earlier on at the Heart of Hawick.

Among the other items to be discussed are the forthcoming Borderlands growth deal.

A talk by Russel Griggs, chairman of the new south of Scotland economic partnership is also on the agenda.

Mid Berwickshire councillor Mark Rowley, the council’s executive member for business and economic development, said: “I am delighted that we are able to take this meeting of the economic development-themed executive committee to Hawick.

“In addition to tying in with the important south of Scotland economic partnership engagement event for business, community groups, the third sector and individuals, the agenda includes a number of Hawick-specific items, and this provides local businesses and residents with the opportunity to come and find out more about some important areas of work for the town.”

Members of the public are invited to attend the committee’s meeting.
