A Hawick man who admitted possession of around £900 of cannabis has been fined £325 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Przemslaw Matusiak, 33, of Wilton Crescent, pleaded guilty to possession of the class B drug with intent to supply.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client was looking after two-and-a-half ounces for a friend and it was not a normal supply case.

The offence happened at a house in Wilton Crescent, Hawick, on April 12.

Piotr Szalek, 52, of Scott Crescent, Hawick, pleaded not guilty to a similar offence and a trial date was fixed for October 4 with an intermediate hearing on September 3.
