Give us a break

Could someone please tell me who is so desperate in Kelso for rented accommodation that they need to close a suitably-adapted (not perfect) building for respite and emergency cover for us parents of disabled family members without other cover being put in place first (Assurances given as council decides to end use of Kelso respite short-break facility, Southern, November 29)?

I have not been assured by anybody that any cover will be put in place after March and I don’t think any of the suitably trained, caring and devoted staff who work there have either.

Instead, we are to hand over our family members to money-grabbing, non-trained, self-employed strangers, in their homes, while we go away and enjoy our short breaks as we have been used to doing. I don’t
think so.
