Get Legless at Maltings

A TRADITIONAL Irish dance group from Scotland performing in England – confusing yes, but also “exciting and innovative”, according to organisers.

Edinburgh’s Absolutely Legless will dance their way on to the Maltings’ stage in Berwick-upon-Tweed on Saturday, April 9.

Inspired by the Irish hard and soft shoe traditions, Absolutely Legless is made up of 25 dancers and musicians. An Absolutely Legless spokesperson said: “This combination of the energy of the dancers and Celtic rhythms of the band entertains audiences every time and Absolutely Legless are well received wherever they appear.”

Students, doctors, nurses and accountants are all members of the group. The youngest dancer is 16.

Members also come from across central and south of Scotland, as well as the north-east of England.

The group last year took part in a major international festival in North Carolina, in the US, as well as France and Spain. Other tours have included Hungary, Italy, Turkey and Poland, and earlier this year the group appeared on the BBC TV show Tonight’s the Night.

Absolutely Legless perform at Berwick at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and tickets can be bought online – – or by phoning 01289 330999.
