Galashiels man, 44, killed in London stabbing

Two men will appear at the Old Bailey in London on Tuesday, April 10, following the murder in Southwark of 44-year-old Michael Boyle, from Galashiels.

Police were called to the Sir Robert Peel Public House in Langdale Close, Southwark, SE17, at 1.52am on Sunday, 25 February.

Mr Boyle was found injured and he was taken to hospital, where he sadly died from his injuries on Saturday, March 10. His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination on March 15 gave the provisional cause of death as multiple organ failure and stab wound to the chest.

37-year-old Geoffrey Downs, of Grosvenor Terrace, SE5, was charged on Monday, February 26, with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court.

He was remanded in custody at the Old Bailey on Monday, March 26, where the indictment was changed to murder.

Derek Green, 48, of Langdale Close, SE17, was charged on March 13 with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He was kept in custody to appear at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 14.

Both men will appear from custody at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, April 10.
