FEBRUARY’S Galashiels Clef Club meeting heard Robert Fraser on violin and Miriam Scarlett on piano performing Dvorak’s Sonatina in G Op 100.

Next was Handel’s Sonata in C for treble recorder and harpsichord by Veronica Bailey and Sue Wilson, while George Richmond topically sang five songs by Robert Burns.

A Trio Sonata in C Major by Quantz, with Dorothea Hall (treble recorder), Heidi Goodship (flute) and Ken Hall (piano). Sue Wilson performed six pieces for harpsichord by Byrd, Dowland, Lully, Purcell, Scarlatti and Bach.

The Intrepid Quartet of Tony Kime and Bryan Jackson (violins), Carrick McLellan (viola) and Roger Clarke (cello) performed Shostakovich’s String Quartet No 8 in C minor, op 110, followed by Mozart’s overture to the Marriage of Figaro. The two pieces completed a fantastic night of music at the Clef Club.

The next meeting of Galashiels Clef Club is on Saturday, March 9, at 7.30pm at the Lucy Sanderson Hall.
