Gala Water Singers, the community choir based in the Gala Water valley, is holding a Come and Sing event on Tuesday (August 27) at Fountainhall Primary School from 7.30pm.
The group has been active for two years and chair John Wilkinson said: “It really is great fun singing with other folk and Tuesday nights are a real highlight of the week.
“What’s most important is that we all have a good time and a good sing, so anyone who wants to join us is welcome; there are no auditions or selection process.
“There’s a whole range of abilities in the choir too. Some read music and even play and teach instruments while many don’t know how to read music at all, or have ever sung outside of the bath. None of that matters.
“With our music director Jim Letham at the helm we get that fabulous feeling of connection and creating something that only singing with others brings.
“We sing both well known and new tunes and try different styles and Jim’s great at getting us to places we didn’t know we could go - and sometimes even a bit further.”
The free evening will contain a selection of songs ideal as a taster for potential new members and a warm up for existing choir members.
If you can’t make it to the Come and Sing event, Gala Water Singers meet on most Tuesdays, same time, same place and potential new members are welcome anytime.
